Changed the black ink with a legit HP ink cartridge. Did a test sheet - all colors print - but no black. I did all the suggested troubleshooting stuff - cleaning and aligning. I don't know what to do. Need help.

Hi @BlueBell1,
Good Day. A warm welcome to the HP community. I reviewed the case regarding issues with the printer not printing in black.. I will be delighted to assist you here.
Superb description, brilliant troubleshooting and terrific observations made before posting. Kudos to you for that. 🙂
To assist you with accurate information I would require more information regarding this:
- Did you reinsert the old black cartridge and check if it is accepted by the printer?
- Do you get any error messages with the new cartridge?
For now, please try these steps:
- Please reinsert the old ink cartridge and check if it is accepted by the printer and if you are able to print in black.
- If you are able to do that, then the new ink cartridge is faulty and needs to be replaced.
- I also understand that you’ve performed all the troubleshooting steps from this link: http://hp.care/2svmafH (HP Deskjet 3520 Printers - Black Ink Not Printing and other Print Quality Issues) and the problem continues.
- Please contact HP phone support in this regard and they will assist you further.

The printer is no longer under warranty. I don't have the used ink cartridge. I think I will have to buy a new printer cause the ink I used was the legit HP 564XL and when I installed it my computer indicated that I did use the legit ink. Thank you for your reply.

I have the exact same issue. My printer will not print black ink using genuine HP cartridges, nor will it perform the Copy function. My printer is no longer under warranty either. I just re-installed it on my Macbook Air, but no luck. The printer worked on my laptop with Windows, and used to work on m Macbook Air, but ever since the latest Mac OS update, it no longer works as it should. It is a shame that there is no way to talk to a human being on the phone. I really feel HP has let me down, and I have been a good customer for a long time.

It appears that there are many people that are having this same issue of their 3520 deskjet no longer printing black ink. It is unbelievable that there is no support to resolve this issue. Very poor service HP. When purchasing a new replacement printer, I'll be sure that it is not a HP printer. It is also very wasteful since I will be adding this HP printer to the landfill when it could have been a quick fix easily explained had there been good customer service and support. I will also share this experience with others.
