I have issue printing magenta. The cartridge is relatively new albeit it hasn't been used for a while. I have carried out several cleans and alignments and have reseated the cartridge too. The cartridges are expensive so I do not want to but a new one on the off chance. The printers warranty expired end of Jan this year.

Get a plastic dish and put 1/4" of hot water in it.
Use rubber gloves.
Remove the cartridge and put the ink printhead down into the water.
Soak for few minutes, then remove and clean/dry the contacts with a lint free wipe like a coffee filter.
Install back in the printer.
Try printing.
You may still need to replace the cartridge.
Inkjets can not sit for more than a week without being used as the ink will dry in the printhead of the cartridges.

Thanks very much for the reply. That doesn’t seem to have worked unfortunately. Is there any other solution do you think? Also, are you saying that if I do not use the printer every week, which I don’t, there is a risk of the heads blocking? What can be done to prevent this, I don’t want to be buying new heads every time I want to print a couple of pages. Thank you.

You will need to replace the color cartridge.
Once a week print a image that has all the colors in your ink cartridges.

Wow. I can’t believe that you need to print something once a week to stop that happening. You’d think that they’d make printers that allow people to use them once in a while. Crazy. They should actually make that clear. I can see why they don’t as people wouldn’t by the products. Thanks for the advice.
