Deskjet Ink Advantage 3635

I bought new cartridges for my Deskjet, after the old ones (which came with the printer) were near end of life.
According to HP support page, cartridges F6U67AE and F6U68AE were suitable (marketed as 302XL).

After replacement, the printer does not recognize them.

Tried troubleshooting steps - cleaning cartridges, powering printer off and on, and it still does not recognize.

Please advise how to proceed.

@Vseg

Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂

As I understand the printer isn't recognizing new cartridges,

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

Did you ensure it's a genuine HP Ink cartridge?

Have you made sure the ink cartridges are correctly installed?

While you respond to that, here's what you need to do:

Step 1: Make sure the ink cartridges are compatible

An ink cartridge error displays if the wrong ink cartridge is installed.

   NOTE:

This printer is enabled with dynamic security. It is intended for use with cartridges using only HP original electronic circuitry. Ink cartridges using modified or non-HP electronic circuitry may not work, and those that work today may not work in the future. Click here for more information.

Visit HP SureSupply to check ink or toner cartridge compatibility or purchase replacement cartridges and other supplies.

  1. Go to HP SureSupply.

  2. If necessary, select your country/region.

  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to order new supplies or check cartridge compatibility with your printer.

You can also purchase genuine HP cartridges and supplies from other retailers.

Step 2: Make sure the ink cartridges are correctly installed

The printer might display an error if the ink cartridges are not correctly installed. Remove the ink cartridges, check them for any plastic tape, reinstall the ink cartridges, and then try to print again.

   NOTE:

HP cannot guarantee the quality of remanufactured or refilled ink cartridges. Use genuine HP ink cartridges for good print quality.

  1. If the printer is off, press the Power button to turn on the printer.

  2. Open the exterior door.

  3. Open the ink cartridge access door.

The carriage moves to the center of the printer. Wait until the carriage is idle and silent before continuing.

  4. Press down on the ink cartridge to release it, and then pull the ink cartridge out to remove it from its slot.

       CAUTION:

Do not touch the copper-colored contacts or the ink nozzles. Touching these parts can result in clogs, ink failure, and bad electrical connections.

  5. Remove any protective tape that still might be on the nozzles.

       CAUTION:

Do not try to remove the copper electrical strip.

  6. Hold the ink cartridge by its sides with the nozzles toward the printer, and then insert the ink cartridge into its slot. Make sure that the ink cartridge is inserted in the correct slot.

    • The tri-color ink cartridge () goes in the slot on the left.

    • The black ink cartridge () goes in the slot on the right.

  7. Push the ink cartridge forward into its slot until it snaps into place.

  8. Repeat these steps to replace the other ink cartridge, if necessary.

  9. Close the ink cartridge access door.

Hello Ruddle_Decipher,
To answer your questions:
The seller states that cartridges are HP original.
I have tried all troubleshooting steps, besides buying new cartridges, twice.
Cartridge codes differ from the ones listed in your link(it says 652); however, the ones I have stated should have more ink, thus the name "XL".
As you represent official HP support, please provide information whether the cartridges with codes listed in my previous post, are suitable for my printer. When cartridge hatch is open, it says Product No. F5S44C.

Page HP SureSupply recognized them as compatible.

Kindly awaiting your response on compatibility.

@Vseg,

I have reviewed the post. Thanks for the quick reply. Welcome back and your patience is greatly appreciated. You've displayed commendable technical expertise, brilliant efforts and great residence to try and resolve the issue Kudos to you for a job well done. 🙂

As @RiDdLe_Decipher is out for the day, I am responding on his behalf. You nailed it when you stated that  Sure Supply is the surest way of checking compatibility of ink cartridges. If it says that it is compatible then there is absolutely no ambiguity about it.

So it boils down to the fact that the printer is faulty and 2 other cartridges cannot go bad at the same time. the probability of that happening are way too high.

I am being honest about it by keeping your best interest in mind without beating around the bush. Please contact Hp phone support to get the printer replaced.

Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes. To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as Accepted Solution as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.

Take care and have a blessed week ahead. 🙂

Cheers!
