HP Pavilion G6-2261SA
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (32-bit)

I use a software system whereby I plan for my allotment each year. It provides me with the ability to print off each year's plan but when I try to print this year's one it wont print full page as it has always done before. When I go into printer preferences it is gobbledegook - looks like Chinese writing so I cant check or change that,. Any ideas?

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Are you able to print using other apps?

While you respond to that, let's try these steps:

Root level uninstall and reinstall printer drivers

  • Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP DeskJet printer entries and uninstall them.
  • Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
  • Then press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" and press enter.
  • Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
  • Again, go to run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

To reinstall click here:https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-deskjet-f4500-all-in-one-printer-serie...

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hi Echo many thanks for responding to my query. I have followed your instructions and I can now print again. I still have the gobbledegook on the Printing Preferences tabs but as long as I can print I will put up with that.
