Thank you for responding,

It's great to have you back 😉

As I mentioned before, I am the Riddle_Decipher,

And as such, I would like to let you know that the last resort before we give up on this, is to create a new user account,

And then install the printer drivers using the below steps:

  1. Make sure the printer is idle, not making any sounds, before continuing.

  2. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

  3. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

  4. Wait at least 60 seconds.

  5. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

  6. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

  7. If the printer does not turn on by itself, press the Power button  to turn it on.

  8. Try printing again and note what happens.

    • If the printer prints, you can stop troubleshooting.

    • If the print job becomes stuck again, continue to the next step.

Check for multiple devices in the Printers list, and then remove any extra entries other than one in idle status.

  1. Search the Mac for Print, and then click Print & Fax, Print & Scan, or Printers & Scanners in the list of results.

  2. Find the printer names that match your printer from the list of devices.

Figure : Printers and Scanner window with multiple names of a printer in the list

Printers and Scanner window with multiple names of HP Photosmart 7520 printers shown in the list
  3. If you see multiple printer queues for the same printer, remove all extra printers by selecting them one at a time, and then clicking the minus button  at the bottom of the list. Leave one 'idle' printer in the list that matches your printer if available and use this printer as the Default printer.

  4. Try printing again.

    • If the printer prints, you can stop troubleshooting.

    • If the printer remains offline or displays an error, continue to the next step.

Remove the printer queue from the list of printers, and then add it again. Doing so creates a new printing session.

  1. Make sure your Mac is connected to the Internet.

  2. In the Printers list, click your HP printer, and then click the Minus button  to delete it.

  3. Click the Add button .

  4. Find and select the name of your printer from the Printer list, and then click Add to add your printer. Do not select an HP Fax driver.

       NOTE:

If your printer does not display in the list, make sure the printer is connected, turned on, has power, and is ready to print.

Figure : Example of the printer selection list

Image: The Add window showing a selection of printers with one model selected.
  5. Click Print Using or Use.

  6. Select the name of your printer (if available) or AirPrint.

Your new printer queue displays in the Printers list in an Idle status .

Figure : Example of a newly added printer in the Printers & Scanners list

  7. Try printing again.

    • If the printer prints, you can stop troubleshooting.

    • If the printer remains offline or displays an error, continue to the next step.

Thank you for posting on HP Forums,

Flower_Bud is at your service.

As I understand, your printer gives an error "Printer not connected"

No worries, as I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution:

What is the error message while trying to connect to Wi-Fi?

Is Wi-Fi light blinking or steady?

Let's try these steps to connect your printer to PC using Wi-Fi:

Reset network settings

To reset the administrator password and network settings, complete the following steps:

1. On the printer control panel, touch (right arrow), touch Setup, and then touch Network.

2. Touch Restore Network Defaults, and then select Yes.

A message appears stating that the network defaults have been restored.

Connect to Wi-Fi network:

Connect the printer to your wireless network

The Wireless Setup Wizard on the printer provides an easy way to connect to the network.

  1. On the printer control panel, touch the Wireless icon , and then touch the Wireless Menu icon .

  2. Touch Wireless Settings, then touch Wireless Setup Wizard.

Figure: Example of choosing the Wireless Setup Wizard

Image: Example of choosing the Wireless Setup Wizard

The printer searches for available wireless networks.

Figure: Example of available networksImage: Example of available networks

  3. Touch the name of your wireless network, then follow the instructions on the printer control panel to connect the printer to your wireless network.

You could refer to this link for more steps on connecting your printer: https://hp.care/2rhUIVg

If the issue persists, you could try connecting using one of the methods:

Wired Network Printer Setup (Mac)https://hp.care/2IdgyD0.

USB Printer Setup (Mac)https://hp.care/2rl0Vj8.

Let me know how this goes,

For I shall follow-up on this case to ensure the concern has been addressed,

And your device is up and running again,

Have a great day 🙂

Cheers 🙂

Hi. Thank you.
I can connect to the printer and print off test and amendment pages from HP.
I cannot print documents.
I have rebooted Mac and printer as well as resetting WIFi connection.
I can print using cable. It is just Wifi printing of documents that does not recognise connection be WiFi.
Thanks.

It looks like you were interacting with @Flower_Bud, but she is out for the day & I'll be glad to help you out,

I'm the Riddle_Decipher & I'm at your service.

I reviewed your concern and the entire conversation, did some research and here's what I recommend:

If you are able to connect print fine via USB and otherwise, however, printing documents via WiFi doesn't work, this is what you may need to do:

   CAUTION:

Resetting the print system deletes all printers in the queue. This includes both HP and non-HP printers.

  1. Click the Apple menu, then click System Preferences.

  2. Depending on your version of OS X, click Print & Fax, Print & Scan, or Printers & Scanners.

  3. Right-click the blank space in the Printers list, then click Reset printing system.

Figure : Resetting the print system

     Resetting the print system
  4. Click Reset in the confirmation window.

  5. Enter the Administrator name and password, then click OK.

  6. Wait for the printing system to reset. When complete, no printers should display in the list.

  7. Try installing the HP software again.

    • If the printer is found during the installation, the issue is resolved.

    • If the printer is not found during the installation, continue to the next step.

I am sorry Flower_bud.

I followed all the instructions and failed to get the software to recognise my printer. Now I have none recognised by the desktop.

The problem was not that the printer and router could not connect OR even that instructions from the desktop did not trigger the printer. They did. BUT NOT when it was a document. In that case no printer was recognised.

I need to quit for a while now and then see if I can get any printer working (cable).

Thank you for your help. Sorry we failed thius far!

Hi Riddle_decipher!

There were no printers showing on my Mac in "Desktop and Scanners" - because I had deleted all.

So before following you guidance, I clicked the + sign to load/connect the printer using cable.

Once connected - I checked that it would print. It did.

I then disconnected the cable and tried the WiFi. IT WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't ask me why.

In any event - I am now a happy man with good connections!

Thank you and all those who have assisted me.

One or all of you led me to touch the right button and resolve the problem.

Best wishes,

Robert
