Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

My HP ENVY 5540 all in one printer is not printing after I had my computer cleaned up by the geek squad.  I suspect they removed my driver, and I need a new one.

@mclarkreno, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If your HP ENVY 5540 printer is not printing after your computer was cleaned, there may be multiple reasons for this. Follow these troubleshooting steps to help resolve the problem:

Check Printer Connection:

  • Ensure that your printer is properly connected to your computer either via USB or through your wireless network.
  • If using a USB connection, verify that the cable is secured and try connecting it to another port.
  • If using a wireless network, restart your router and make sure the printer is connected to the correct network.

Reinstall Printer Drivers:

  • Sometimes cleaning the computer could affect the installed drivers. Visit the HP website to download and install the latest drivers for the HP ENVY 5540 printer.
  • You can access drivers by visiting hp.com/drivers.

Check Print Queue:

  • Go to 'Devices and Printers' via the Control Panel on your computer.
  • Right-click on your HP ENVY 5540 printer icon and select 'See what's printing'.
  • Cancel any pending print jobs in the queue and try printing again.

Paper Tray and Cartridge Check:

  • Ensure there is paper in the tray, and the ink cartridges are properly installed and have enough ink.
  • If you need to replace the cartridges, refer to instructions for replacing them correctly.

Printer Status:

  • Check your printer's display for any error messages or alerts that may indicate problems such as empty ink or paper jams.

Printer Restart:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the wall outlet, wait for 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.

Perform a Printer Test:

  • On the printer's control panel, navigate to the menu and select 'Tools', then select 'Print Quality Report' to test the functionality.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
