Digital Fax Archive, but want to stop faxes from printing

I just purchased an HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 mainly to scan things to my Mac and to receive faxes and send them to my Mac.  We are a mostly paperless office, but the faxes tend to create a lot of paper that is useless.  I set up the HP Utility and it is scanning things to my mac without a problem.  The faxes are being sent to my Mac. However, they are not sent to my Mac until after the fax prints out. 

Is there a way to disable printing the fax, but still have the fax sent to my Mac?

I believe you have regular fax as well as digital fax setup on the printer, that could be the reason the printer is printing the Fax. Normally when Digital fax is configured the printer automatically receive faxes and save them directly to your computer. Restoring the fax settings and then re-configuring Digital Fax may resolve the issue. Let's try these steps:

1.) From the printer control panel, touch or swipe down the tab at the top of the screen to open the Dashboard, and then touch ( Setup ).

2.) Touch Printer Maintenance .

3.) Touch Restore.

4.) Touch Restore Settings.

5.) Select Fax

6.) Power off and power on the printer.

7.) On your Mac, open HP Utility.

8.) Select the printer.

9.) Click Digital Fax Archive in the Fax Settings section. Follow the onscreen instructions to setup Digital Fax.

I performed the steps as written above.  The fax machine is sending the fax to the Mac, but it still prints the fax first. I don't see any option in the software to tell the machine to send the fax, but not to print it.  If that is an option somewhere, perhaps I am missing it. 

I tried leaving the paper tray open. If I cancel the printing on the fax machine, it will send the fax to the Mac and not print the fax. I guess that is a work around, but it would be nice if the software could tell the fax machine to just send the fax without printing it.

Let's try to disable Fax Print, here is how to do it:

1.) From the printer control panel display, touch Fax.

2.) Touch Setup .

3.) Touch Preferences and then touch HP Digital Fax.

4.) Touch Fax Print and select Off or Disable.
