New Office Jet 6700 Premium.
Trying to set up the Digital Fax Wizard.
In the Folder Setup window, I am asked for my User Name and Password.
I am listed as Administrator and don't recall ever setting a User Name or Password on this computer.
Is it stored anywhere since I don't see anywhere to set this up?

I understand you said you did not set one up, however on any Windows computer you have to create a username for your profile, even if you are the only Admin using the computer.
HP does not have anything to do with your Windows User Account set up nor do we have access to that information. We can however show you how to find this information, please take a look below at managing your user accounts:
Managing User Accounts and Logins (Windows 7)
Once here you should be able to access your User name, in my previous recommendation it advises if you have not created a password to just hit enter. You can also try to setup a password for your user account.
Thank you again for your time.

Hello mortn99,
I see you are setting up the Digital Fax feature on your HP 6700 Premium, and are being asked for a username and password before you are able to proceed with the setup. I would like you to go ahead and enter your Windows username and password you enter when logging into your computer to continue with the setup.
I will also leave these helpful documents for future reference:
Set up and Use HP Digital Fax in Windows for a Wireless or Ethernet Connection
&
Setting Up HP Digital Fax to Save Received Faxes to your Computer
I hope this helps! If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.
Thank you,

Thank you for your quick response. However, perhaps I wasn't clear describing the problem.
I do not enter any user name or password when logging on to my computer. I am the only user and am unaware of any user name. To the best of my knowledge this was never entered. This is a new computer and I don't recall entering this information.
I assume that somewhere on the machine there might be some default name.
If this exists, where can I locate this information?
Otherwise, where can I create this?
I can't get past the "Authentication" screen without entering this information.
I would like to store my faxes on the computer so that they can be viewed at a later date.
Thank you for any assistance you can offer.

Yes, I understand what you are trying to do thanks for the clarification. 🙂 Can you please let me know which Windows Operating system you are currently using so I can look into for you, or atleast where you will be able to find it on the computer?
Thanks,

Thank you for that information. Okay I have found some recommendations to access the Windows 7 admin and password, I understand you did not set one up initially as you are the only Admin user on your Dell, but go ahead and take a look here:
How To Find the Administrator Password in Windows 7
&
Please let me know if these work for you, I will watch for your reply.

Thank you, but that did not provide the information I need.
In order to "Authenticate" the Digital Fax Setup, I am asked for my Windows User Name and Password.
I have no idea what my Windows User Name might be. I don't recall ever setting one up.
I have entered what MAY be a password that was set up for some other purpose on the computer.
Nothing I have done has allowed me to Authenticate the Digital Fax Setup.
Since this is a provision of the HP printer, I would think that someone in Tech Support would have some way to bypass this annoying step.
I need to access this function!
Thank you once again.
