I would like to know how long the session time for direct printing, meaning if a mobile or a laptop is connected how long will it stay connected until the connection drops if it drops at all.

A very warm welcome to the HP community. A very good day to you.
I understand that you would like to know for how long the session time for direct printing will stay connected. If a mobile or a laptop is connected wirelessly to the printer (without a router).
I hope I have understood your question correctly.
I don't think there is any timing for this. The session should remain connected unless either of the devices is restarted.
I suggest you to refer to this HP Document for additional information on Wi-Fi Direct.
I hope this information helps. Let me know. Good luck! 🙂
