Hello-
I noticed that the thin white ribbon inside my printer is disconnected. It is the white ribbon on the right side of the black ink cartridge. I can’t find where to connect the ribbon or how to remove the top cover for better access.

Hi @Romeromel,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
I’m sorry to hear about the issue with your HP Tango—it can be concerning to see internal parts disconnected, but let’s work together to get this resolved.
- Did the printer experience any recent jamming, rough handling, or maintenance attempts that might have caused the ribbon to disconnect?
- Are there any visible markings or clips near the ribbon's location that could indicate where it should be connected?
- Have you noticed any error messages or changes in the printer’s functionality since discovering the disconnected ribbon?
Let's try these steps.
1. Refer to the Printer’s User Manual or HP Support Site
- Download the HP Tango’s user manual from the HP Support site.
- Look for diagrams or guides related to the internal assembly and the ribbon cable’s proper connection point.
2. Inspect the Ribbon and Surrounding Area
- Gently examine the ribbon for any damage or bends.
- Look near the right side of the black ink cartridge for a small connector, clip, or port where the ribbon might attach.
3. Remove the Top Cover (if necessary)
- Some printers have hidden latches or screws to remove the top cover.
- Check for screws under the hinges or hidden latches at the back or bottom of the printer.
- Be cautious when removing parts to avoid further damage.
4. Secure the Ribbon Back in Place
- If you find the connection point, carefully reinsert the ribbon using minimal pressure.
- Ensure the ribbon is flat and not twisted before securing it.
5. Test the Printer Functionality
- Reconnect the printer to power and attempt a test print.
- If the printer doesn’t function correctly or shows an error, reset it by unplugging it for a minute and restarting it.
If the ribbon cannot be reconnected or you’re unsure about the process, it’s best to contact HP Support to avoid further complications.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
