Mac couldn't find printer, so I searched HP support and found Printer Offline or Not Responding Message, which the printer then printed without me asking it to !
Trying to print off some tickets, which pc says are ready to print but it won't do.
Have switched pc, printer & router off and on. Have pleaded and threatened it.
How could it print the HP message if it was not connected ?

Welcome to the HP Forums. I would be happy to help you with your HP Deskjet 2540 Printer. I understand that you are unable to print and you have already done some preliminary troubleshooting.
However, I will need a few details to provide an accurate solution,
- Are you getting any error Message while printing?
- How is the printer connected to the computer, USB or Wireless?
Meanwhile:
Perform a hard reset on the printer.
- Remove the power cable from the printer when it is turned on.
- Press and hold the power button for 30secs.
- Connect the power cable to the printer and directly to the wall outlet.
- Turn on the printer.
Reply with the result of the above-mentioned steps, for further assistance.
Cheers.

Thanks Sandytechy20.
The printer is now uninstalled. I was trying to delete then add the printer as in Step 4 of the doc but it ended up uninstalled.
No error messages show because device not recognised. The printer is Wireless connected. Blue light flashing.
The Wireless Direct button has continuous white light on.
I have tried to add the printer again. I get to Select the Device you want to use . It searches and of course finds none. I click the Info button but can't proceed because the device doesn't have Restore Network Settings. I am stuck !
My PC is a MacBook Air.

Hi @D2540,
Thank you for your reply, I'll be more than glad to help you.
I understand that the issue still persists after following the steps provided in the previous interaction.
It looks like you were interacting with @sandytechy20, but he is out of the office today so I'll take over from here.
This issue could occur if the driver is not configured properly.
Please follow the link: Printer Offline' or 'Printer Not Responding' Message (Mac)
Let me know if this works.
You have a good day ahead.
