Suddenly today my printer (HP Laserjet) stopped connecting properly with my desktop computer (HP).

At first, the dual sided printing option wasn't showing up (when it had before) when I went to print something, so I tried to fix that by going into Printer Properties. I found the dual-sided printing setting and turned it on, then tried to print the same document.

But then it wouldn't print it at all. The  document would go into the printing queue and then vanish. Printer status was stated as "idle" on the computer (and sometimes would become "Default"). While on the printer itself, the screen says "Ready."

Prompting a test print from the PC also doesn't go through to the printer. But I can get the printer to print a test page when I go directly to the buttons on the printer.

I tried switching the USB cable connecting the printer to the PC to different USB ports.

On the PC, I removed and added the printer and restarted the PC.

I tried removing the devices/drivers related to the printer before one of those restart (there were no drivers listed for the printer itself though).

I checked for system updates, but everything's up to date.

Nothing has fixed the issues so far.
