I installed a new HP printer.

This laptop says that the printer is connected, but it doesn't print.

Hi @Santafe72

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how frustrating this must be—especially when your new HP printer is connected but refuses to print. Let's go through some troubleshooting steps to resolve this issue.

Step-by-Step Troubleshooting for HP Printer Not Printing

1. Check Printer Status

  • Open Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
  • Select your HP printer and check if its status is Ready or Offline.
  • If it’s offline, click Manage > Set as Default Printer.

2. Clear Print Queue

  • Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click your HP printer and select See What’s Printing.
  • Click Cancel All Documents to clear any stuck print jobs.

3. Restart the Print Spooler Service

  • Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.
  • Scroll down to Print Spooler, right-click it, and select Restart.

4. Check Printer Connection

  • If using USB, ensure the cable is securely connected.
  • If using Wi-Fi, verify that the printer and laptop are on the same network.

5. Update Printer Drivers

  • Visit HP’s official support page for your printer model.
  • Download and install the latest drivers and firmware.
  • Restart your laptop after installation.

Let me know if you need further clarification! I know how frustrating printer setup issues can be, but hopefully, this gets your HP printer working properly. 😊
