HP LaserJet Pro MFP M28w
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi,

I've seen so far that moderators prefer to send reset instructions privately.

There is an admin password on my printer that I don't remember, therefore I can't change any of the printer settings.

Could you please send me instructions to reset the admin password for my HP LaserJet Pro MFP M28w?

Thanks!

Hi @torontomans,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you have forgotten the admin password for your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M28w printer, you can try the following steps to reset it.

  1. Turn on your printer and wait for it to initialize.
  2. Press and hold the "Cancel" and "Wireless" buttons simultaneously until the attention light blinks.
  3. Release both buttons and then press and hold the "Wi-Fi" button until the attention light blinks again.
  4. Release the "Wi-Fi" button, and then press and hold the "Information" button until all the control panel lights blink.
  5. Release the "Information" button, and then wait for the printer to reset to its default settings.

After the printer resets, the default username and password should be "admin" for both. If that does not work, you can check the printer's manual for more information on default login credentials.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
