Hi @Mickwint,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The issue you're experiencing is likely because the default program to open certain file types (such as PDFs or images) has been set to your HP printer app instead of a more appropriate application, like a PDF viewer or image editor.

To fix this, you'll need to change the default application for the specific file types. Here's how to do it based on your operating system.

On Windows:

  1. Right-click on the file (PDF, image, etc.) that is opening with the HP printer app.
  2. Select "Open with" from the context menu.
  3. Choose "Choose another app".
  4. In the new window, select the appropriate program you want to use to open that type of file (e.g., Adobe Acrobat for PDFs, Photos for images).
  5. Check the box that says "Always use this app to open .pdf (or other file type)".
  6. Click OK.

On macOS:

  1. Right-click (or Control + click) on the file that is opening with the HP printer app.
  2. Choose "Get Info".
  3. In the "Open with" section, choose the correct application from the dropdown menu (e.g., Preview for PDFs, Photos for images).
  4. Click "Change All..." to make this the default for all files of that type.
  5. Confirm by clicking "Continue".

This should stop the downloaded files from opening in the HP printer app.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
