Deskjet D2660
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi!

I've been having a weird problem for quite some time now but it's beginning to annoy me to no end so I'm posting for some help.

I have an HP Deskjet D2660 printer that works flawlessly. But the drivers have turned into a real nightmare.

When I go to the devices and printers panel in Windows and ask for the printing preferences, I get text that's in English.

When I open Irfanview and ask for the same preferences, I get mostly empty fields. When I open Photoshop and ask for the same preferences, I get yet another batch of goobly-**bleep**. I get about 3 or 4 different panels with different languages for the same preferences tab!

I tried uninstalling the drivers from the device manager, uninstalling the print cue, removing the driver from the devices & printers panel. That doesn't help any.

I even tried using the cleanup tool that's packaged with the drivers and just got a bunch of reboots.

I even tried manually deleting all that is HP from the registry and when I reinstalled the drivers, whether it be through a manual install or through the automated windows install, the same problem comes back. (and at one time I even lost access to the printer services...).

So now I'm wondering what to do? I don't want to throw the printer out the window because it still prints nice (though it would probably feel very good to do so).

Anybody got an idea?

Welcome to HP support community.

Run antivirus program on the computer then,

Perform root level uninstallation to remove all the printer related software's.

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Remove all instances of the same.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers.
  • Restart the PC again.

Download and install printer full feature driver

Click here to download the driver.

Hi Sandy!

Tried it all but sadly it comes out similar. The driver is also a bit unstable when called from Irfanview.

This one has me really really puzzled. I usually can fix pretty much anything on a computer but this one is really getting me to pull my hair out.

This might require remote access of the printer to fix this issue.

I request you to talk to HP support.

They might have multiple options to help you with this.

  1. Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp?openCLC=true
  2. Select the country.
  3. Enter the serial of your device.
  4. Select the country from the drop-down.
  5. Click on "Show Options".
  6. Fill the web-form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.

Since the printer is out of warranty, I wouldn't want to have a service call bill.
