Priinter has gotten confused. Keeps throwing the error message shown below, whether or not the printer is set to do duplex printing or not. One can reply to the error message by simply clicking OK or closing the window. If the printer was indeed set to print duplex, it just goes on its merry way and prints in duplex. I have no idea what's causing it or how to fix it. It's like it's mis-reading the paper sizes -- thinks perhaps I've got some very large paper in there -- which I don't. Just plain letter. I've run thru every diagnostic I can find. There was one that showed a slew of paper size conflicts which it supposedly resolved. But didn't get rid of the "paper too long to auto-duplex" message. Welcome to an ideas folks might have.

Greetings @Wingzy,
Thanks for the post.
I understand that you are getting an error that states that the paper is too long to auto duplex, is that right?
Not to worry, I will be glad to assist you.
Have you tried a different application to print a duplex print job?
The issue you are facing seems to a driver issue, request you follow the procedure mentioned below to uninstall the printer software and settings and install it back.
Uninstall the printer from "programs and features" which can be accessed from the Control panel.
(Please have the printer Off and disconnected during uninstallation.)
Check in device manager, if the printer is listed there, please delete it.
(Device manager can be accessed from the Control panel.)
Go to devices and printers, select any printer listed there and you will get some options on the top.
Click on print server properties.
You will get a popup, click on the drivers tab and delete all the HP printer drivers listed there, if any.
Delete all the instances of your printer listed in devices and printers.
Restart the PC.
Once the PC is on the desktop, press Win + R, it would bring a Run dialog box,
Type %temp% in the run box and click Ok or hit the Enter button.
It would bring up the temporary files folder. Delete the files in the folder (You might not be able to delete all the files, ignore them).
If possible, delete the printer from the registries using Regedit or using any other 3rd party application.
Restart the PC again.
Download the latest full feature driver from www.hp.com/drivers and install it on the computer.
Connect the printer to your computer only when the setup prompts for the printer.
Let me know if this helped. Good Luck.

I'll get back to you with a report on my success (which I expect) or failure (very unlikely). It think it started after I did a Windows update. In any case, the message only appears on this machine (Win7) not when my husband prints to it from his iMac or either of us prints to it from our iPhones/iPads.
Oh .. and yes .. I did in fact wonder if it was an app issue and tried printing from various applications -- Excel, Word, PowerPoint, TextPad, and FireFox. And got the same behavior. Have been in the programming field for many years .. so know "the drill". 🙂
In any case, will get back to you asap.
Thanks!

An update .. and a request for advice to proceed. Note that we have a total of three HP printers on our network. A very old HPLaserJet 1200, an HP LaserJet 200 colorMFP, and my HP OfficeJet Pro 6230. As you can see below, the drivers for those printers are shown. I would very much prefer NOT to delete them just to fix the prob with my 6230. The HP DeskJet 6800 was the HP 6230's predecessor. It served well and true for nearly 10 yrs until it jammed itself beyond repair (leading to the purchase of the 6230). When I tried to delete the 6800 driver completely (driver & package) I couldn't; apparently something is shared with the 1200. I was able to delete just the driver, which I've done.
Have no idea what the other HP drivers refer to; suspect they have something to do with the MultiFunction aspect of the HP LaserJet 200 MFP.
Bottom line.. how should I proceed? Please don't tell me that to fix the driver for my 6230, I need to uninstall (and reinstall) the drivers for our other HP Printers too.
Thanks!
