Printing a 2 page word document using my wireless connection.

In simplex, both pages come out fine.

In duplex, the text on first page drops down about an inch.

Not a one-off issue as the printer does this consistently. No idea why.

Only solution is to print each page and then copy as 2-sided!

Hi! @Mr_Quorange, Welcome to HP forums.

I understand you have issues printing two-sided from your printer.

Don't worry I'll try to help you out.

Did you make any changes to your printer?

Does the issue persist when you make a copy from your printer?

As you mentioned when your print two-sided from your printer the first page drops down an inch.

Try the steps recommended below.

You can print on both sides of a sheet of paper automatically by using the automatic two-sided printing mechanism (duplexer).
1. From your software, select Print.
2. Make sure your printer is selected.
3. Click the button that opens the Properties dialog box.
Depending on your software application, this button might be called Properties, Options, Printer Setup,
Printer Properties, Printer, or Preferences.
4. Select the appropriate options.
On the Layout tab, select Portrait or Landscape orientation, and select Flip on Long Edge or Flip
on Short Edge from the Print on Both Sides drop-down list.
● On the Paper/Quality tab, select the appropriate paper type from the Media drop-down list in the
Tray Selection area, and then select the appropriate print quality in the Quality Settings area.
● Click the Advanced button, in the Paper/Output area, select the appropriate paper size from the
Paper Size drop-down list.
Click OK to print.
NOTE: After one page of the document has been printed, wait for the printer to reload the paper
automatically to print on the other side. You do not need to take any action.

MrRobot,

Thanks for your extensive response, which didn't actually solve the problem, but made me spot something which, when corrected, did solve the problem.

No changes to printer, photocopying works fine, and your recommended steps to print duplex was the automatic route I always follow.

However, looking through some settings, I discovered that for reasons unknown to me, I had managed to set the paper size to US Legal instead of A4; changing this solved the problem!

Something to think of if anyone else has the same issue.

Thanks again.
