Hi @Coco012
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The E3 error on an HP printer typically refers to a paper jam issue, but in your case, since you’ve already checked for paper jams and found none, it could be caused by other issues such as misalignment, a stuck sensor, or even a firmware/software glitch. When the display is blinking, it usually indicates that the printer is having trouble completing a task due to a detected problem.
Here are several steps you can try to troubleshoot and resolve the E3 error and blinking display:
1. Turn Off and Restart the Printer
A simple restart can sometimes clear temporary errors.
- Turn off the printer using the power button.
- Unplug the printer from the power outlet.
- Wait for about 60 seconds to let the printer completely power down.
- Plug it back in and turn it on to see if the error persists.
2. Check for Any Hidden Paper Jams
Even if there is no visible paper jam, a small piece of paper or debris can sometimes cause the E3 error. Thoroughly check the following areas:
- Paper Tray: Remove any paper from the tray and check for any small pieces of paper.
- Rear Access Door (if your printer has one): Open it and check for any paper stuck in the rollers.
- Cartridge Area: Carefully inspect the area where the ink cartridges are located, making sure nothing is blocking the printer’s moving parts.
3. Check the Printer Rollers
If the paper rollers are dirty or misaligned, it can cause errors in the paper feeding process. Here's how to check:
- Open the printer and access the paper feed rollers.
- Look for any debris, paper pieces, or dust around the rollers.
- Clean the rollers gently with a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with water (avoid using paper towels as they can leave fibers behind).
- Manually move the rollers to see if they move smoothly.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
