My HP envy has an E3 error, indicating a carriage obstruction. Have done all the troubleshoot steps, cannot see any obstruction or paper/debris jam. The error will not resolve.

Hi @MyaB,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you've followed all the troubleshooting steps for the E3 error on your HP Envy printer and the issue persists, here are some additional steps you can try.

  • Power Cycle: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for a few minutes before plugging it back in and turning it on again. Sometimes, a simple power cycle can resolve temporary issues.
  • Manually Move Carriage: With the printer turned off, gently move the carriage manually to see if there are any obstructions or debris that might not be immediately visible. Ensure that the carriage moves freely along the entire width of the printer without any resistance.
  • Inspect Ink Cartridges: Remove the ink cartridges and check for any obstructions or debris in the cartridge area. Also, ensure that the cartridges are properly seated and not loose.
  • Reset Printer: Perform a reset on the printer by pressing and holding the power button for about 10-15 seconds. This will reset the printer's internal settings and may help clear the error.
  • Update Firmware/Driver: Make sure your printer's firmware and drivers are up to date. Sometimes, outdated firmware or drivers can cause errors.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
