hp 2676

Hi.  I have a HP 2676 printer and the E3, resume light, and ink alert light are blinking.  There is no paper jam and I have reset it various time but it still does not work.  I have changed both ink cartridges as well, but nothing works.   Any ideas  Thanks

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand that you are getting Carriage jam or E3 error, follow these steps to fix the issue.

Check for obstructions in the carriage path

Remove any loose paper or obstructions that might be blocking the carriage path.

  1. Turn off the printer, and then disconnect the power cord.

  2. Open the cartridge access door to get to the carriage inside the printer.

  3. Look for and remove any obstructions in the carriage path, such as crumpled paper or dislodged labels.

  4. If the carriage has a latch, gently press it down to make sure it is locked into place.

    CAUTION:

Ink tank printers: If the carriage latch is secured, do not press down on it. Doing so might damage the printer.

    EXAMPLES OF THE CARRIAGE LATCH

  5. If the carriage is not locked in place, move it to each side, removing any obstructions blocking its path.

    CAUTION:

Do not force the carriage to move if it is locked or stuck. This can damage the printer.

  6. Close the printer door.

  7. Reconnect the power cord, and then turn on the printer.

Reset the printer

Reset the printer to recover from printer errors or failures.

  1. If your printer has a rechargeable battery, remove it.

  2. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.

  3. Unplug the power cord from the power source.

  4. Wait 60 seconds.

  5. Reconnect the power cord to a wall outlet and to the printer.

    NOTE:

HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.

  6. Turn on the printer to complete the reset.

Thanks for your reply, but unfortunately this has not worked.

Have checked the printer and there is no paper jam anywhere.  Turned printer off and on and followed your instructions sent still have the same error flashing.    Any other ideas?

Thanks for your advice.  I finally got it working after doing all suggested things, AND replacing both color and black ink cartridges.  Then I had to "add" the same printer to my computer, and wait, wait, wait,...it took awhile, but suddenly it started working again.  thanks.

Tried HP support as per your instructions and was told that::

This product is no longer supported by HP. You can search for possible solutions on this support site.

Does this mean that I will have to purchase a new printer?

Thank you. It was finally fixed by buying new hp ink cartridges, both color and black, and "adding" the printer again to my computer.  It took a long time and lots of trying, but now it works again.  It's quite an old printer, but uncomplicated, and does what I need.
