Hi @GyaneshS ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are getting the E3 error on an HP Smart Tank 580 printer typically indicates a carriage jam or an issue with the printhead movement. Here's how you can troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

1. Check for Obstructions

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Open the printer's access door and inspect the carriage area for paper jams, debris, or other obstructions.
  • Carefully remove any paper or objects you find.

2. Ensure the Carriage Moves Freely

  • With the printer still off, gently move the printhead carriage (the part that holds the ink tanks) side to side.
  • If it doesn't move freely, check for anything blocking its path.

3. Verify the Ink Tanks and Printheads

  • Ensure the ink tanks are properly installed and the printhead latches are securely closed.
  • Check that no part of the printhead assembly is misaligned or loose.

4. Restart the Printer

  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
  • Open and close the printer's access door to reset the carriage.

5. Update Printer Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • If the issue persists, update the printer's firmware via the HP Smart app.

6. Perform a Reset

  • Turn the printer off.
  • Unplug it from the power source for 5 minutes.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
