Hi @Dale444,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are getting the E6 error on an HP printer generally indicates a paper jam or a carriage jam. Since you mentioned that you already removed the paper jam, it might be helpful to check a few more things to ensure that the issue is fully resolved.

Here are some steps you can try to clear the E6 error:

  • Turn Off the Printer: Power off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for about a minute and then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Check for Any Remaining Paper: Open the printer and check for any small pieces of paper that might be stuck inside. Remove any obstructions you find.
  • Check the Carriage Path: Ensure that the print carriage (the part that holds the ink cartridges) can move freely across the width of the printer. Sometimes, the carriage can get stuck due to debris or misalignment.
  • Reset the Printer: Perform a hard reset by turning off the printer, unplugging it from the power source, and holding down the power button for about 15 seconds. Then, plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Inspect the Rollers: Check the rollers for any bits of paper or dust that might be causing the jam. Clean the rollers if necessary.
  • Re-seat the Ink Cartridges: Open the ink cartridge access door and ensure that the cartridges are properly seated in their slots. Remove and reinsert them if needed.

If the above steps do not resolve the issue, you might need to perform a factory reset or check for firmware updates from HP. Here's how you can perform a factory reset:

  1. Factory Reset:
    • Turn off the printer.
    • Hold down the "Resume" button (the button with the paper icon) and press the "Power" button.
    • Continue holding the "Resume" button until the attention light (triangle with exclamation point) turns on.
    • Release the "Resume" button.

I hope this helps.
