Thanks for engaging in HP support Forums! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips! I see from your post that you are getting Ink cartridge error message on your HP Envy printer. Don't worry we'll work together to help you resolve this issue.
To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:
- Are you using original HP ink cartridges or refilled ink?
- Have you tried to clean the electrical contacts on the cartridge?
In the meantime, let's try these steps here:
Perform a Hard reset on the printer and make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector.
Remove all the ink cartridges and then try to perform a hard reset on the printer.
With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
Remove USB cable, if present.
Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.
Now insert the ink cartridges and then try to print a test page and check if it works.
Alternatively, I would suggest you follow the steps suggested in the support document for - 'Cartridge Problem,' 'Incompatible Ink Cartridge,' or 'Ink Cartridges Missing' Message Displays on t...
Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!
Eagerly waiting for your response!
I hope you have a good day ahead,
And Feel free to ask your queries as this forum has some of the best people in the world available and ready to help.

It's possibly class action lawsuit territory but definitely "I need to buy an Epson" territory.
Please don't ask me to perform any additional resets or cleanings. Can I use 3rd party inks or not??? Please please please don't waste my time. I just want a straight answer. Envy 110, 3rd party inks. Yes or No???

Thank you for replying,
After reviewing your post thoroughly, I understand you are having issues while printing using 3rd party ink cartridges.
You can go ahead and use 3rd party cartridges however HP does not recommend using them for print quality issues.
In this scenario, I'm sending out a Private message with the information you need to get this sorted,
Please check your Private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Forums profile
Next, to your profile Name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it
Keep me posted,

that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!
Good Luck.

I'm having the exact same issue as the other user, except that I've never used anything but HP cartridges since I bought the printer.
I have two full cartridges in there now, and two more full ones in my drawer—I never like to run out—so I'd really appreciate it if you could help me solve this problem so that I don't have to kiss off all that money invested AND buy a new printer.
By the way, I already considered buying a new Envy as I know mine is 3-4 years old, but the new ones are SO CRAPPY compared to the one I have, which is made of glass and metal and looks nice in my apartment vs. the new plastic behemoths. Aesthetics do matter to some of us, you know.
And another piece of feedback while I'm at it: it's absolutely maddening that you have zero phone support to resolve these issues. If you set out to irritate your customers, you could hardly do a better job.
Thanks in advance for your assistance. Best, L.

Welcome to HP forums, I see that you are getting cartridge error message.
- Provide the complete printer model number or the product number?
- When did this issue start?
- Did you change the cartridges recently?
Meanwhile, perform a power reset
- Turn on the printer, if it is not already on.
- Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
- Wait at least 30 seconds.
- Plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector and printer.
- Turn on the printer.
Reply with the result of the above-mentioned steps, for further assistance.
Cheers.

Hi same printer as the rest of the thread here. Envy 110. Same issue: not execpting 3rd party cartridges. Just change the cartridges and it will not print. I noticed there is a private message being sent with the work around...just looking for that.
