I have an ENVY 6000 and used to be signed up for Instant Ink.
I cancelled my instant ink contract last month and fitted my own HP cartridges.
I now find that the printer will only print "Printer Information Reports" and that these tell me that I either have an "installed cartridge" or "account payment" error - neither of which is true

Hi @JohnC586,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP ENVY 6000 might be having trouble recognizing the new cartridges after the Instant Ink cancellation. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue.
Check Cartridge Installation:
- Ensure that the new cartridges are installed correctly. Remove them and reinstall them, making sure they click into place.
Update Printer Firmware:
- Make sure your printer's firmware is up-to-date. Sometimes outdated firmware can cause issues with new cartridges.
Reset the Printer:
- Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
Check for Instant Ink Account Issues:
- Even though you've canceled the Instant Ink subscription, sometimes the printer may still be trying to communicate with the Instant Ink system. Make sure your printer is no longer linked to your Instant Ink account by checking your HP account settings.
Run Printer Troubleshooter:
- Use the built-in printer troubleshooter on your computer. This tool can help diagnose and fix common issues.
Reset Printer to Factory Settings:
- As a last resort, you might consider resetting the printer to factory settings. This will remove any existing configurations that might be causing the problem.
Check for Error Messages:
- Look at the printer's display panel or any software messages for additional error details. Sometimes, these messages can provide more clues on what might be wrong.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
