Hi @PATRICE4207,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The error code 0x610000f6 on your HP Photosmart C6380 usually indicates a hardware problem with the printer. Given that you've observed a broken tooth on a gear and the printer is making unusual noises, it’s likely that there is a mechanical issue affecting the printer’s operation. Here’s a structured approach to troubleshoot and address this issue:

1. Power Cycle the Printer

  • Turn Off and Unplug: Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait: Leave it unplugged for about 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect and Power On: Plug the printer back in and turn it on to see if the error persists.

2. Inspect for Paper Jams

  • Paper Path: Check the paper path for any small bits of paper or debris. Even if you’ve already checked, carefully inspect all accessible areas, including the paper tray and output area.
  • Clear Obstructions: Gently remove any paper or debris that might be causing an obstruction.

3. Check the Printhead and Cartridges

  • Printhead: Open the printhead access door and check if the printhead is properly seated. Gently move the printhead carriage to see if it moves freely.
  • Cartridges: Ensure that the ink cartridges are correctly installed and not obstructing the printhead’s movement.

4. Examine the Gear Mechanism

  • Gear Inspection: Since you’ve heard a noise that resembles a broken tooth on a gear, check if any gears are visibly damaged or misaligned. This can be challenging without disassembling the printer, but look for any loose or misaligned parts.

5. Reset the Printer

  • Factory Reset: If the error persists after the basic checks, you might need to perform a factory reset. Consult the user manual for instructions on how to perform a factory reset on your specific model. Be aware that this will restore the printer to its default settings and may erase custom configurations.

6. Perform a Manual Clean

  • Manual Cleaning: Sometimes, internal cleaning can resolve issues. If you’re comfortable, you can carefully clean the interior with a soft, lint-free cloth. Be cautious around the gears and printhead.

7. Consult the Printer Manual

  • Manual Guidance: Refer to the HP Photosmart C6380 user manual for any specific troubleshooting steps related to error code 0x610000f6. The manual might provide additional insights or solutions.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
