We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

The error message "0xB38D8401" on the HP Smart Tank Plus 651 usually indicates a hardware issue or a specific error condition within the printer. Here are some steps you can try to resolve this issue:

1. Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer: Press the power button to turn off the printer. If it doesn't turn off, disconnect the power cord from the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the power source.
  • Wait 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cord directly to a wall outlet and to the printer.
  • Turn on the printer to complete the reset.

2. Check for Software Updates

Make sure your printer's software and firmware are up to date, as updates might fix bugs and issues related to error codes. You can usually do this through the printer's control panel or via the HP Smart application.

3. Inspect Ink Cartridges and Printhead

  • Ensure that the ink cartridges are correctly installed and that there is no obstruction or damage.
  • Open the printer to access the printhead and make sure it is securely in place.

4. Perform a Power Drain

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power outlet.
  • Press and hold the printer's power button for about 30 seconds to drain any residual power.
  • Reconnect the power cable and turn the printer back on.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
