Hi @Avucciria,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP Smart Tank 5106 is showing a "E3” error and you want to reset the printer. Let’s go through the steps to try and resolve this.

Turn Off the Printer
 - Press the Power button to turn off the printer.
 - Wait about 30 seconds.

Unplug the Power Cord
 - Disconnect the printer from the wall outlet.
 - Wait 60 seconds to ensure all residual power is drained.

Check for Obstructions or Paper Issues
 - Open all access doors and remove any paper jams.
 - Ensure there are no foreign objects in the printer (like torn paper or packaging material).

Check Ink Cartridges and Tanks
 - Make sure the ink tanks are properly installed and not empty.
 - Check for any leakage or misalignment.

Perform a Hard Reset
 - While the printer is unplugged, press and hold the Power button for 15–20 seconds.
 - Release the button and plug the printer back into the wall outlet.
 - Turn the printer on and see if the error clears.

Test Printing
 - Print a test page or diagnostic page to verify the printer is functioning normally.

If Error Persists
 - Repeat the steps above to ensure all residual power is cleared and cartridges/tanks are properly seated.
 - Sometimes, the E3 error is cleared after a full power cycle and reset of ink cartridges.

I hope this helps.
