I am getting an error on my printer window -- PROBLEM WITH PRINTER OR INK SYSTEM.
Product: hp Offce Jet Pro 8600 e-all-in-one N911a
The problem appeared while running a print job. I got a message on my computer that the black ink needed to be replaced. When I opened up the cartridge door to replace the ink, there was a crumbled piece of paper which I removed. it was fully in tact. I changed the ink cartridge & then this error appeared.
I have reset the computer, cleaned the ink cartridges & chambers with alcohol wipes, updated driver.
Still will not print and the error is still in the window. FYI -- the print job is going to the spool and it is NOT erroring out. It allows me to delete the print job

@Colleen12345, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your Ink System Errors on HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One N911a!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
If you encounter an error indicating a problem with the printer or ink system after replacing the ink cartridge and removing a crumbled piece of paper, follow these steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
Check the Ink Cartridges:
- Make sure all ink cartridges are installed correctly.
- Reseat the ink cartridges to ensure they are not loose.
- If the error persists, try replacing any affected ink cartridges again.
Paper Jams:
- Ensure there are no remaining pieces of paper stuck inside the printer.
- Check for paper jams in all accessible areas including the paper tray, rear access door, and any other compartments from where paper might pass through.
Printer Reset:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 30 seconds and plug it back in.
- Turn on the printer and check if the error still appears.
Clean Printer Contacts:
- If reseating the ink cartridges does not work, it might help to clean the electrical contacts on the cartridges and the printer itself.
- Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water to clean the contacts.
Firmware and Software Update:
- Make sure your printer's firmware is up to date. You can check for updates on the HP website.
- Ensure the printer drivers on your computer are current and correctly installed.
Run Diagnostic Tools:
- Use any built-in diagnostic tools or HP software utilities to identify and potentially resolve the issue.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
