officejet 9012
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

This morning I just needed to scan a document to my computer from my officejet 9012.  It asked me to either sign into hp smart or create an account.  I was in a hurry and couldn't remember if I even ever set up an account.  Tried setting up an account and it asked for a phone number to send an sms message to which contained a verification code.  I accidentally typed in the wrong phone number for the code to be sent to.  I cannot find a way to change the wrong phone number for the sms message to be sent to.  I've never had to sign in to use this scanner/printer before and am about to lose my mind.  I just need to simply be able to scan documents to my computer like I have for the last two years of owning this device.  I'm stuck because it wants me to sign in and has the wrong number to send the verification code to.  Please help!

I reviewed your post and I understand that you are unable to scan and you entered a wrong phone number while signing up to HP connect account.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

You need to sign into the HP connect account only when you use the HP ePrint services. If you are scanning directly to the computer, it should work without signing in.

I recommend you root uninstall the printer and then reinstall and check if it helps.

Here is how it is done.

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

13.) Restart the PC

14.) Download and install the printer software from the below link.
