Have been printing for years on both standard and legal size paper. Never had any problem like this. Only recently started using the Print Envelope features. About have of the envelopes printed have the top line of characters chopped off with both the delivery address and return address. Sometimes the second line. Have tried different print options like Face Up and Face Down and Clockwise Rotation to see if I could find a setting that would work around the problem. All ways of printing continue to chop off letters. Sometimes they are printed correctly but often not. Need this to work for writing business letters.

The printer should be able to print on envelopes.
There are a few caveats:
- No extra thick, embossed, or foil lined envelopes.
- Envelopes must be within the size range for "custom paper sizes" (Specifications)
- Envelopes other than plain white may not print.
Side Bar: Need a decorated envelope? If desired, manually create a custom document / envelope; print a background on your envelope, and add the return and destination addresses. (Recent versions of Word.)
Not sure where the problem is located.
I can offer places to look / check / adjust the setup.

Note that the printer can print on other than standard sizes; you will have to adjust the size / dimensions when you create the envelope.

The Printer software provides the foundation on which many tasks depend.
If you do need to install the printer software, remember to Restart the computer after the software is installed.
What about the errors?
Assuming the envelopes are loading correctly, there are not too many in the tray, and the feed is correct, each envelope should print the "same way". That means, "some envelopes" should not be chopping the address(es).
That said, anything can happen - the printer may not actually be tracking every envelope correctly while it travels through the printer.
The printer may be dirty, rollers might need cleaning.
Before you get too far along, make sure the printer is "at its best".
Solutions / Suggestions, presented in the order to be completed:
Black or Color Ink Not Printing, Other Print Quality Issues
Load the Envelopes correctly according to the instructions in the guide:
Pages 20-22
If you are having paper feed / selections issues, be sure to check item #7 (underneath the printer)
Next...
Tell the printer about the "new" paper in the printer:
Paper Setting on Printer Control / Display Panel
Check / Adjust / Retain the Paper at the Printer Display Panel
Open Printer Tray,
If you have not yet done so, add desired paper type
Wait a few seconds (2-3)
Close Tray
IF applicable for your printer:
On the Printer Control / Display Panel, Click Modify (wording varies), set the paper size and type, Click OK
NOTE: If the size of the Paper Size is not in the Drop-down list, Select Custom

For the sake of simplifying the process,
For testing, at least, consider creating "just the envelope".
That is, do not yet combine creating both document and envelope at the same time.
Example setups - one for #10 envelope and one for a custom sized envelope
