HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 All-in-One Printer

OfficeJet Pro 8710 prints everything just fine except envelopes which print skewed as if alignment is off.  Is there a problem with the way the envelope feeds?  Anyone else ever have this problem?

Hi @Rich842,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Printing issues with envelopes on the HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 could indeed be caused by various factors, including improper feeding, alignment issues, or incorrect settings. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem.

  • Check Envelope Orientation: Ensure that the envelopes are loaded correctly in the input tray. Envelopes should be loaded with the print side facing down and the flap on the left side.
  • Adjust Paper Guides: Make sure the paper guides in the input tray are adjusted correctly to fit the size of the envelopes. Improperly adjusted guides can cause the envelopes to feed incorrectly.
  • Use Supported Envelope Sizes: Verify that you are using envelopes of a supported size and type for your printer. Using envelopes that are too small or too large, or of incompatible material, can cause feeding and printing issues.
  • Clean Paper Path and Rollers: Dust, debris, or residue on the paper path and rollers can cause feeding problems. Clean the paper path and rollers with a lint-free cloth dampened with water, and then try printing again.
  • Check Printer Settings: Ensure that the printer settings are configured correctly for printing envelopes. You may need to select the appropriate paper size and type settings in the printer driver or software.
  • Update Printer Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Sometimes, updating the printer firmware can resolve compatibility issues and improve performance.
  • Try Different Envelopes: If the problem persists, try using envelopes from a different package or brand. It's possible that the issue could be related to the specific batch of envelopes you are using.

By following these steps, you should be able to identify and address the cause of the skewed printing on envelopes with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
