@dajbob, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP Envy 6000e!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

A Red X on your HP Envy 6000e’s control panel usually means the printer has encountered an error that needs attention — this could be due to a paper jam, low/no ink, a door being open, or connection issues.

Let’s get this sorted together! Here are a few things to try:

Basic Troubleshooting:

Check for paper jams – Gently open all access doors and remove any stuck paper.

Ensure ink cartridges are properly installed and have enough ink.

Close all doors securely (especially the ink cartridge door).

Restart the printer – Unplug it for 30 seconds and plug it back in.

Check Wi-Fi connectivity – If you're using wireless, make sure the printer is connected.

To help narrow it down, could you please let me know:

Do you see any message or blinking icon along with the Red X?

Did this happen after a paper change, ink replacement, or update?

Are you using HP Smart to manage the printer? If so, does it show any specific error?

Once you reply, I can guide you more specifically!

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
