I recently installed a 1 GB router and faster modem. At same time, on my MAC with HIgh Sierra, an HP updage through Apple was installed on my computer and on my partners...he can print from his MAC to my Envy 110 All-in-one 411d (he also got an HP software update on his MAC with High Sierra) I can't print from my Mac..what I figure is there is no more support for my Envy 110 since my update apparently knocked off my scanner and my printer when I try to print says either
Printer is in use
or
Printer is in sleep mode (it isn't)
or just hangs up and shows idle ..printer is in use.
Yet when I print from my partner's MAC to my Envy All-in-One 411d, it prints whatever he wants just fine.
Is my router too close? I have tried everything, but don't want to lost printing option from his MAC..we can also air print from all our iOS mobiles to the Envy 110 also.

Good Day. Thank you for taking an interest in the HP community. I will be glad to assist you and let’s get right to it Fabulous description and superb analysis of the issue. It is amply appreciated.
Let me gather some information for better clarity to assist you correctly:
- Are all the devices connected to the same network along with the printer?
- Is the printer connected to a 2,4GHz network?
- Did this happen after a recent software or OS update?
- Did you update the printer’s firmware and check again?
- Did you run the latest Mac OS updates?
- Did you check for interferences between the printer and the router?
Furnish all the requested information for me to assist you correctly.
Meanwhile, I will be providing a roadmap with some troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue. Let us try these steps:
From this link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c02790693 (HP Printers - Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection)
- Perform all the relevant steps from step 1 to step 11 except for step 2 which is for Windows.
- Now check if the issue gets fixed.
If it continues, then perform all the prescribed steps from this link: https://support.hp.com/hr-en/product/hp-deskjet-f2100-all-in-one-printer-series/3177559/document/c02... (HP Printers - Print Jobs Stuck in Print Queue (Mac) as you are getting the printer is in use error message.
- Just that when you delete the printer. Make sure to add the printer as Apple AirPrint or Secure AirPrint and nothing else. (Don’t add it as an HP printer. This is important.)
- This should fix the issue for you.
- Make sure that all the latest Mac OS updates are completely and correctly installed on the Mac.
- If required update the printer’s firmware using a USB cable by following instructions from this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_1776648-1643972-16
- Run all the latest Mac OS updates and ensure that the most current updates are installed on the MAC.
- Update the router's firmware also. Ensure that the printer is connected to 2.4GHz network
- Now check for issue resolution. This should work for you.
Good luck and keep me posted about the developments. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue and give the post a Kudos for my efforts to help. Thank you and have a great week ahead. 🙂

Thanks for the comprehensive info , David and for quick reply...yes to all you said...the tech man from our alarm company was doing all of this...
After he left, my printer , the Envy 110 was printing from my partner's Mac on High Sierra OS..working fine. Air Print and from computer.
I noticed that both of us had updated HP software from Apple but that mine was no longer supporting High Sierra...but it did on his. So today, I deleted the printer one more time and when I selected it after adding , I noticed on the bottom that it had "air printer" as default, but that was what the man did before..mind you I had also lost all scanning properties.
So I did the drop down and selected instead Envy 110 series and went forward and Voila! I got the printer, WITH the scanner feature (Print/Scan) options. Tried all of it and it worked seamlessly ..printing from my computer , air printing from all of our mobiles, and scanning again!
I will save your instructions, too! Just happy to have it awhile longer since I recently bought a whole bunch of HPXL60 black cartridges on sale.

I am running High Sierra on my 2011 MacBook Pro. I've always had my HP Envy 110 series hooked up to it to do my printing/scanning. I recently noticed that when I went to System Preferences/Printers & scanners/Envy 110 series, my only option now is to print. I cannot tell you when the scanning feature went away (pre/post updating to High Sierra). I have uninstalled the printer 2ce, unplugged the printer, etc. & nothing brings back the ability to scan. Help!
