Envy4500
Envy 4500 not printing yellow, same as others here I purchased new cartridge thinking it was dry even though it was still rather full. New cartridge doing same. Have cleaned cartridges and print heads, have followed all the instructions I can find. I am frustrated as I have just purchased another black cartridge at $25.00 plus the new coloured one. I see others have the same problem but I don't see any help. The printer has hardly been used showing about 250 prints so far. Could someone please help me?

Hi! @Christinepaquet, Welcome to HP Forums, this is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you.

I understand you have print quality issues with your printer.

Don't worry I'll try to help you out.

Did you make any changes to your printer?

Does the issue persist when you make a copy from your printer?

Are you using HP original ink or refilled ink cartridges?

Have you tried checking with a different ink cartridge?

Please provide the operating system you are running on your PC to assist you better.

As you mentioned you have issues printing in yellow color from your printer.

Try printing using a different brand of paper.

Try the steps recommended below.

Clean the printheads using the HP software, and then evaluate the results.
Open or search for the HP folder in your list of installed software programs, click the folder for your printer, and then click the name of your printer.
HP Printer Assistant opens.
On the HP Printer Assistant window, click Maintain Your Printer.
Click the Device Services tab, and then click Clean Ink Cartridges.
A Print Quality Diagnostic page prints.
Examine the Print Quality Diagnostic page.
If the print quality is acceptable, click Done. You can stop troubleshooting.
If the print quality is unacceptable, click Second-level Clean when prompted to continue the next level of cleaning.
   NOTE:
If the printheads are badly clogged, it might require another cleaning cycle. If so, wait 30 minutes before you perform both levels of cleaning again.

If the copy is working fine, uninstall the printer software from root level on your PC and install the full feature printer software. (Only for Windows OS)

In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.

Select your HP printer.

Select Uninstall.

In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.

In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”

Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.

Type printui.exe /s and click OK.

Click on Drivers tab.

Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click remove at the bottom.

Select OK.

Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.

Close Devices and Printers.

Link to update the full feature printer software.

If the issue still persists after trying out the steps, it is a hardware issue with your printer.

Thanks for your reply. The printer is not used with windows or a computer. We purchased it to use with our phones via WiFi. Because the yellow will not print using either my phone or my husbands leads me to believe it isn't a software problem. I have cleaned the pinheads several times, checked and cleaned the cartridges, replaced both ink cartridges and changed the type of paper. So by the sounds of it I'm here with fifty bucks worth of new cartridges and a hardly used useless printer. So if I take it to be repaired do you think it can be fixed? We are seniors with limited income so we don't want to spend any more money than we need to.
I appreciate the help and your time.

@Christinepaquet, Thanks for your quick response and time.

I appriciate your efforts for writing back to us.

As you mentioned you are printing from your smartphone.

Did you try making a color copy from your printer and check if the yellow color is printed?

If you are unable to make a color copy from your printer.

It is a hardware issue with your printer. Please contact HP support for service options.

If you are able to make a color copy and if your printer is printing yellow color it is a driver issue.

Try the steps recommended in my previous thread to solve the issue.
