Printer used on different desktop last year using Win 7, worked perfectly. That PC died, and I replaced with another using Windows 10. An attempt to print a PDF document downloaded failed; however, everything "functioned" appropriately including see the job sent to the que, the printer going through the motions including sound of actual printing, but nothing printed. Verified ink present, verified printer could correctly print PDF saved on flash using Win 7, verified could print Word doc, ran troubleshooter 100x, searched endlessly online for solution and tried what I felt made sense, uninstalled and reinstalled several times. At one point when I saved the PDF in Win 10, Edge wanted to be the default software to print but I neither like nor use Edge, so didn't try that. Seriously considering trying to downgrade to Win 7 only because I am not heavy duty PC user and utilize mainly for office-type documents. Don't need or want the bells and whistles. In my limited expertise this issue I have is related to Win 10 and printing PDF with it. Surely this is an easy fix. Some of the solutions I saw online did not line up with what I saw in the directory path on my PC so those fixes weren't an option (like the UAC switch). I am old person who cut their teeth on DOS so I have an idea of the roadmap and commands. I'm very frustrated at this point. Any help offered I am willing to try. Online paid support not an option - as stated, old person, limited income. Thanks very much in advance.

Welcome to HP Forums,
It's a pleasure to find answers and tips for your technical queries to assist you.
To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:
Is the printer working fine with a different application?
Please follow below steps that could resolve the issue.
Step 1: Uninstall and then reinstall the software
Uninstall and reinstall the Adobe software to get the latest version of Adobe Reader.
-
In Windows, search for and open Add or remove programs.
-
In the list of installed programs, click Adobe Reader, and then click Uninstall or Yes.
-
If a User Account Control message displays, click Yes.
-
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the software removal. If the software uninstall process does not start or an error displays while uninstalling, download Fix problems that block programs from being installed or removed (in English) from the Microsoft website, and then try uninstalling again.
-
After Adobe Reader uninstalls, close all programs and web browsers, and then restart the computer.
-
Open a web browser, go to Adobe Acrobat Reader DC (in English), and then follow the on-screen instructions to install the software.
-
Try printing the original pdf file again.
