HP Envy 4520
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Been bugging me for months now.  Printer connected via wireless.

Both my Win 10  desktop and Laptop will only print in B&W using the latest EN4520_Full_WebPack_1122.

They both used to print fine, this happened after some MS update.

If I uninstall the drivers and re-install them, it prints in colour fine at first then goes back to b&w (I think it reverts after a reboot).

Both my older win 8 laptop and my ipad print in colour 100% fine, hence it's something to do with drivers.

I don't need colour that often, but having to use my old win 8 laptop when I do is becoming a bit annoying.

On another similar thread someone said they replaced theirs with an older driver and that worked fine, but the link they gave was for a 5540 printer, hence doesn't work with my model.

Anyone know where I can find older drivers for this printer please (or have another solution)?

Thanks

Hi Sandytechy20

The firmware was already up to date (tried to update it on printer, said all was up to date, printed off Printer Status and it showed Firmware as latest CFP1FN1827BR

I followed your instructions, uninstalled from Program and Features

Deleted from Settings./Devices/Printer and scanners

Ran "printui.exe /s", there was only one HP printer there, I removed it and clicked OK

Downloaded and installed the driver from your link (was same version as I already had, but used yours)

tried to follow your next set of instructions but on my win 10 machine, they're not exactly the same.

Start button/Settings/Devices/Printer and scanners

Right click does nothing, left click gives me "Open queue", "Manage" "Remove Device"

I clicked on Manage and had numerous options including "Printer properties" and Printing preferences"

I selected Printing preferences and nothing had a colour option, I have attached all menus

I then went back and this time selected Printer Properties, have included pics below. Again no option to select colour

Still printing in black and white.  I tried rebooting, and printing random pages from different browsers, also typed coloured text into MS word, all came out b&w

This might require remote access of your computer to fix the issue.

I request you to talk to HP support.

They might have multiple options to help you with this.

  1. Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp?openCLC=true
  2. Select the country.
  3. Enter the serial of your device.
  4. Select the country from the drop-down.
  5. Click on "Show Options".
  6. Fill the web-form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.

I hope that helps.

Thanks for your help, but there's zero way any outside company is having access to my PC, and it's also happening on my win 10 laptop.
