@Mongerson, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Which device are you using to print?

Try making a standalone copy and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

Use an automated tool to clean the printhead

  1. On the printer control panel, touch the Settings icon ().

  2. Touch Tools, and then touch Clean Printhead. The printer cleans the printhead, and then prints a test page.

On the printer control panel, touch the Settings icon (), touch Tools, and then touch Print reports > Print quality report.

Let me know how this goes.

Sorry, followed each step....worked as you described.  But when tried printing....still nothing came out.

Any/all ideas appreciated.  Is strange that can print test pages etc......paper and printer is working normally - but nothing is printed.   ????

Thanks

@Mongerson It's important to under what product you've got connected to your device, if the copier and test page works fine but it doesn't print otherwise, this is most likely an issue with the driver used for printing, I suggest we reinstall the drivers using the below steps, if you've got it connected to a notebook/desktop computer with windows on it:

(If its not a computer or not windows, please let us know what you've got and we'll help you, accordingly)

Press "Windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window.

Type "services.msc" to get Services - Go to "Print spooler" - Right-click and "Stop" the service.

Now again open "Run" - Type "spool" and ok - Go to PRINTERS folder - delete everything in that folder.

Go to services again - Start the print spooler.

Now check for issue resolution.

If the issue persists, unplug the USB cable from the printer (if present).

Go to Control panel - Programs and feature - Select all the HP printer entries and uninstall them.

Now go to Control panel - Devices and printer - Select all the printer entries and remove the device.

Press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" (There is a space between .exe & /) and press enter.

Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.

Again, go to the Run window, type - "c:/programdata" - Go to the Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

Restart your computer.

Then, use this link to access the HP website, find the drivers compatible with your windows and install it: click here

If you wish to thank me for my efforts, you could click on "Accept as solution" on my post as the solution should help others too.

@Mongerson

  • Make sure the printer and the MAC are connected to the same wireless network.
  • This printer supports only 2.4GHz network.

Check the connectivity between the printer and the MAC

  1. Obtain the IP address of the printer by clicking on the Wireless icon on the printer
  2. On the MAC Go to Spotlight > search for Network utility > select Ping tab > enter the IP address of the printer in the box
  3. Check the second box that says Send only > 10 pings
  4. Click on ping > Check the results at the end if any packets are lost
  5. Note: There should be 0% packet loss, share the results in your next post.

Once the printer is connected to the MAC, install the printer using AirPrint driver

Please ensure that the printer is up to date with its firmware and Mac is up to date with its software. If you are unsure you may use the links below to update the printer firmware and Mac software:

Update printer firmware

Update software on Mac

1.) Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners.

2.) Check if your printer name displays in the Printers list, If your printer is listed, click the printer name, click the minus sign to delete the printer.

3.) If you see multiple printer queues for the same printer, remove all extra printers by selecting them one at a time, and then clicking the minus button at the bottom of the list.

4.) Click the plus sign, click Add Printer or Scanner, click the printer name.

5.) Click the Use or Print Using menu, select AirPrint in the pop-up menu. Then click Add.

Select AirPrint from the Use menu

6.) Try to print.

Let me know how this goes.
