Envy 5530
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I have used an Envy 5530 for several years and am pleased with it. Just had to get a new PC and suddenly printing is not good.

Windows 10, Office 365, MS-Word. Labels which print corectly using my old PC - also W10/ Office 365 / MS-Word - now are displaced vertically down the page.

I have updated the printer driver and checked that A4 paper is selected everywhere I can find to do that.

Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Is the copy working fine?

Try updating the firmware for the printer using this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_1776648-1643972-16

Align the printer

For the best print quality, align the ink cartridges.

  1. Load plain white paper in the paper tray.

  2. On the printer control panel, touch the Settings icon .

  3. Touch Tools, and then touch the Down Arrow  once.

  4. Touch Align Printer.

The printer prints a test page, and then prompts you to scan the page.

  5. Lift the scanner lid, and then place the page on the glass according to the instructions on the alignment page.

  6. Close the scanner lid, and then touch OK.

Print another Print Quality Diagnostic report, and examine the page.

If the copy is working fine, I recommend you delete the driver at the root level and Install the drivers, follow the steps below:

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose `Delete' or `Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between "printui.exe" and "/s")

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

Then, Click on this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-envy-5530-e-all-in-one-printer-series/... to download an install the drivers.

Keep me posted, how it goes!

Thanks for that. The firmware was already up-to-date - but no harm checking! Alignment and copy were also fine.

I then had something else to do and so found myself in settings / printers where I discovered yet another place to force A4 rather than Letter. That seems to have worked!

If only it was easy to insist that in Europe we don't use Letter and so the printer (and much other software) should default to A4....
