Whenever I print 4x6 photo images from either my print or the HP Smart app, I only get part of the image on the paper. The amount of image that prints on the 4x6 glossy photo paper is different. Sometimes it prints 1/8 of the image, 1/4 or 1/2. No rhyme or reason. It makes me think the paper is not feeding correctly. There are ink smears on the back of the paper. I have used the cleaning function for that, but not improving. I have uninstalled both the printer on my computer and the app for my phone.

@connie31, Welcome to HP Support Community!

What happens when you make photocopies or print text documents on the printer?

Does the paper used, meet the supported paper type and size specifications of the printer?

Does the print preview look good?

Meanwhile, use the document Black or Color Ink Not Printing, Other Print Quality Issues to isolate and resolve the issue.

Also, Update the printer firmware

Download available firmware updates from the HP website

With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates. Refer to the document HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

Keep me posted.

Everything seems to be working now. The prints are fitting on the page. I think I had a stack of paper that had become curved in the box. So it was not feeding very well.  I do still have some smearing on the back if I print several prints in a row.

Thank you for your help!

Keep the printer under observation for a few days and let me know 🙂

Thanks!
