Hi @Torchguy96,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand how confusing it can be when your HP Envy 6055e suddenly stops printing and shows a red “X” light. Let’s gently walk through what this means and how to fix it.

What the Red X Means on HP Envy 6055e

The red “X” typically indicates:

  • A critical error that needs attention before printing can resume.
  • It may be related to:
    • Ink cartridge issues (missing, incompatible, or not recognized)
    • Paper jams
    • Firmware or connection errors
    • The setup was not completed properly

Steps to Resolve the Red X and Resume Printing

1. Check Ink Cartridges

  • Open the cartridge access door.
  • Remove and reseat both cartridges.
  • Clean the copper contacts gently with a lint-free cloth.
  • Make sure you're using HP original cartridges.

2. Clear Paper Jam

  • Remove any paper from the input tray.
  • Open all accessible doors and gently check for stuck paper.
  • Avoid tearing. Pull the paper slowly and evenly.

3. Reset the Printer

  • With the printer on, unplug the power cord from the back.
  • Unplug from the wall outlet.
  • Wait 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in directly to a wall outlet (not a surge protector).
  • Turn the printer back on.

4. Check HP App

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
