Where do I find the information to solve a General Printer error ? E6 code on ENVY 6400. Lights flashing, Cartridges changed. Rebooted from switch and wall socket. Panel and corner is lighting up like a Christmas tree

I understand you are getting the E6 error on your HP ENVY 6430e All-in-One Printer indicates a general printer error, often associated with issues related to the printer's internal mechanisms or hardware. 

Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:
 

  • Power Cycle the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the wall outlet, and wait for about 60 seconds. Plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Check for Paper Jams: Make sure there are no paper jams in the printer. Open all access panels and remove any stuck paper. Look for bits of paper that might not be immediately visible.
  • Inspect Cartridges: Since you have already changed the cartridges, double-check to ensure they are installed correctly. Remove and reinsert them to ensure a proper connection. Make sure the protective tape has been removed from the new cartridges.
  • Update Printer Firmware: Sometimes, firmware issues can cause errors. Check if there’s a firmware update available for your printer through the HP Smart app or on the HP website. Update the firmware on an HP printer
  • Reset the Printer to Factory Settings: If the issue persists, you might want to consider resetting the printer to its factory settings. This can sometimes clear error states.
