HP 7640 will not print cyan. I have aligned, cleaned printer heads, etc.

Hi @Ginnyweir,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Officejet 7640 printer is not printing cyan despite aligning and cleaning the printheads, there are a few additional steps you can take to try and resolve the issue.

  1. Check Cyan Ink Cartridge: Ensure that the cyan ink cartridge is not empty or low on ink. Replace the cartridge if necessary. Also, make sure that the cartridge is properly installed.

  2. Print a Test Page: Print a test page to see if the issue persists. This can help you identify whether the problem is with a specific document or if it's a more general printing problem.

  3. Update Printer Drivers: Make sure that your printer drivers are up-to-date. You can visit the HP official website to download the latest drivers for your printer model.

  4. Use Genuine HP Cartridges: Ensure that you are using genuine HP ink cartridges. Non-HP cartridges may not work properly and could lead to printing issues.

  5. Run Print Quality Diagnostic: Many printers, including HP printers, have a diagnostic tool that can help identify and fix print quality issues. Check your printer's manual or settings to locate and run the print quality diagnostic.

  6. Clean the Printhead Manually: If the automatic printhead cleaning hasn't resolved the issue, you may need to clean the printhead manually. Refer to your printer's manual for instructions on how to do this.

  7. Check for Firmware Updates: Ensure that your printer's firmware is up-to-date. Firmware updates can sometimes include improvements or bug fixes that may address printing issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

I have done all suggested.  Cyan still not printing on printer maintenance and alignment test fails.  I can see the cyan on the bottom of the printhead with the other two colors after gentle cleaning so I know it is there.  Any other suggestions?
