HP ENVY Photo 7855 All-in-One Printer

My envy 7855 will not get passed the boot screen (4 dots).
I’ve already tried to unplug the power cable (from device and wall) and held the power button to drain the power.
I’ve removed the ink cartridges to see if there are any errors but nothing happens.

unit has been unplugged for 2 weeks and powered on today and still no luck.
Nothing else is plugged into it (USB)

Nothing Jammed. Cannot update firmware because it’s being used as a WiFi printer and devices cannot find it on the network. (WiFi icon looks to be off and can’t be turned on)

Hi @Joss0503,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP Envy 7855 is having trouble booting past the initial screen and might be experiencing a hardware or firmware issue. Since you've already tried basic troubleshooting steps like unplugging the printer and removing the ink cartridges, here are a few additional steps you can try.

Check Power Supply:

  • Ensure the power cable is securely connected to both the printer and the wall outlet. If possible, try a different power cable or outlet to rule out power supply issues.

Reset Printer:

  • Some HP printers have a more advanced reset process. For the Envy 7855, try holding down the "Resume" button and the "Power" button simultaneously for about 15 seconds. Release the buttons and see if the printer responds.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet. Leave it unplugged for at least 30 minutes. Reconnect the power cord and attempt to power on the printer again.

Inspect for External Issues:

  • Make sure there are no obstructions or damage to the printer's external components, such as the paper tray or output tray.

Check for Internal Issues:

  • Carefully open the printer and inspect for any loose connections or obstructions inside the printer. Be sure to do this only if you're comfortable with handling internal components.

Firmware Recovery:

  • If the WiFi icon is off and the printer is unresponsive, you may need to perform a firmware recovery. This typically involves downloading firmware from the HP website onto a USB drive and then using the drive to update the printer. Since your printer is not connecting to the network, this may be challenging.

Given the power issue and the fact that the printer has been unplugged for a while, it's possible that there could be an internal hardware fault.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

I have attempted most of the suggestions listed in your response.

- ENVY 7855 does not have a "Resume" button for me to press with the power button to reset.

- I have tried a new power cable

- I have inspected for paper jams and/or debris.

- I cannot upgrade firmware with flash drive because

a. the file is an EXE file

b. I cannot access the menu to run the firmware update procedure.

Can you send me instructions on how to perform a hard reset procedure designed specifically for my unit?

It was only unplugged for a few days to try to drain power and "RESET"  the unit.
