Colour printing from my photo file has been excellent until this week when I am getting parrell streaky lines on the prints. I have cleaned the print heads twice but the streaks remain. The streaks are roughly 5/6mm wide. Any suggestions please?

Hi @Barrie16,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to assist you.
I understand you're experiencing an issue with print quality on your printer.
I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, I'm here to help you today.
Do you have the same issue when you make a color copy on the printer standalone? (Place an original color document on the scanner glass and make a copy to confirm hardware is working fine)
Please follow the steps below to fix the issue.
A) Perform a power drain.
1) Take out the cartridges
2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.
3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.
4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not into a surge protector.
5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.
Remove the cartridges > Unplug the power cord > Wait for 30 seconds > Plug the power cord back in > Insert the cartridges
B) Kindly refer to the steps on this link to update the printer firmware and let me know if that resolves the issue.
C) Refer to the steps on this link to further troubleshoot.
D) If the issue still persists, refer to the steps on this link to restore factory defaults and let me know if that resolves the issue.
Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a great day ahead!

Thank you for your support Irwin6 but unfortunately, the malfunction persists. I followed your advice to the letter but the lines on the prints are still in evidence. This includes the stand alone colour copy trial.
My computer and smart app tells me that the tank levels are ok. I have been informed that new cartridges under the HP Instant ink scheme are en route. I will change to these as soon as I have received them to see if that will resolve the issue. I will report my findings to you driectly afterwards,
I appreciate your help.

Hi @Barrie16,
I am sorry to hear that the above steps did not help much but i do appreciate your efforts in performing the troubleshooting steps.
As you have the same issue even when you make a copy, there is an issue with the ink cartridges or the printer it self.
Wait for the new ink cartridges to be deliverd and let me know if that resolves the issue.
I will be archiving this case for now. However, you can respond to the same thread to continue the conversation.

Take care and have a great day ahead!

Hello Irwin6,
I have now received a colour replacement cartridge from HP Instant Ink. There was no black cartridge sent. I have installed the new colour cartridge but the lines persist. It therefore seems that the black cartridge may be at fault as I can only see the lines in question where black comes into play (I have this problem with photos and documents). I then printed large black text and the lines appeared. When printing large coloured text, there are no lines. I originally mentioned that the streaks were approx 6mm wide but they are actually nearer10mm.
The black cartridge is showing a low level on the smart app. but I was not sent a new black cartridge. The problem perhaps?
Your comments will be appreciated Irwin6
