Hi @Ryanshinley,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
When your HP Envy Photo 7855 printer is stuck on the initializing screen, it indicates that the printer is having trouble completing its startup process. This can be caused by various issues, such as firmware problems, hardware malfunctions, or connectivity issues. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve this issue:
1. Perform a Power Reset
- If the printer is unresponsive, unplug the power cord from the printer and the power outlet.
- Leave the printer unplugged for at least 60 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord to the printer and the power outlet.
- Turn on the printer.
2. Check for Firmware Updates
If the printer initializes properly after a power reset, ensure that the firmware is up to date:
- Make sure the printer is connected to your Wi-Fi network.
- On the printer’s control panel, navigate to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Update the Printer.
- Follow the prompts to check for and install any available updates.
3. Reset the Printer to Factory Settings
If the printer still does not initialize, you may need to reset it to factory settings:
- If you can access the settings menu on the control panel, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore > Restore Factory Defaults.
- Follow the prompts to confirm the reset. The printer will restart and return to its factory default settings.
4. Remove and Reinstall Ink Cartridges
Sometimes, an issue with the ink cartridges can cause initialization problems:
- Power off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Open the ink cartridge access door and remove all the ink cartridges.
- Carefully reinstall each ink cartridge, ensuring they are properly seated.
- Close the ink cartridge access door.
- Plug the printer back in and power it on.
Use HP Print and Scan Doctor
If the printer initializes after a power reset, you can use the HP Print and Scan Doctor to diagnose and fix any remaining issues:
- Download the HP Print and Scan Doctor from the HP Support website.
- Open the tool and follow the on-screen instructions to diagnose and resolve issues with the printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Thank you for replying. I performed the power reset and it still gets stuck on initializing screen. With it stuck like that I have no access to the screen to reset it to factory settings. I did try unplugging again and removing and reinstalling the ink but still stuck.
what now?
