HP OfficeJet Pro 6968 All-in-One Printer

Problem started mid print. First error said printer was turned off incorrectly turn off and on again. If problem is not fixed contact HP. When turn off and on again error message says remove paper jam and make sure paper tray is installed properly. There is no paper jam I have opened every section nothing jammed. After click OK for paper jam error the error stating printer was turned off incorrectly comes up again. After a minute that error closes and the error ox6100004a saying there is a problem with the printer or print system please turn off and on again. Which I have done several times with the same outcome each time. Is there a solution for this issue? Thanks

Hi @JWHS,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thanks for reaching out — the HP OfficeJet Pro 6968 error code 0x1600004a is typically a critical firmware or print system error, often related to: A failed print job, Corrupt internal software, or an unresponsive ink system. This can happen after updates, power surges, or cartridge recognition issues.

Step 1: Make sure the cartridge access door is closed

To avoid errors or other problems, make sure the cartridge access door is fully closed.

1. Open the cartridge access door.

2. Remove the paper path cover, and remove any torn paper, labels, or other obstructions that might be inside.

3. Reinsert the paper path cover, making sure it is fully inserted into the printer so that it does not interfere with closing the access door.

4. Close the door, ensuring it is fully seated.

Step 2: Clear the error message:

Remove the ink cartridges and restart the printer to clear the error message.

1. Press the power button to turn off the printer.

2. With the printer off, open the cartridge access door.

3. Turn the power on and wait for the carriage to move.

4. With the printer on, unplug the printer from the power.

5. Remove the ink cartridges and set them aside. It might be necessary to manually slide the carriage to access the cartridges.

6. With the access door still open, turn the printer on, and then wait for the printer to complete the start-up sequence.

7. Once the carriage returns to the center and the error is clear, install the ink cartridges. If the error does not clear, repeat these steps up to three times.
