I can not remove the ink cartridges. They are stuck to the right side of my printer. I use hp instant ink service so all cartridges are authentic. It tells me there is a paper jam but there is no paper stuck anywhere I can see.

Hi Kuroi_Kenshi,
Those were all solutions that I tried before making the post. However, I could not move the cartridge carrier at all, not even with force. Exhausting all options, I decided to spray some cleaning duster around the carrier rod, and magically, the printer started working.
Thanks for your help!

Hi @Yvette1270,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
1. Check for Paper Jam Thoroughly
Although you mentioned there is no visible paper stuck, it’s best to double-check areas where paper jams can occur:
- Open the Access Doors: Carefully inspect inside all accessible areas.
- Remove Tray: Pull out the paper tray and check for jammed paper within.
- Rear Access: Open the rear access door to inspect for paper jams.
- Automatic Document Feeder (ADF): Check the ADF for any paper pieces.
- Use Flashlight: Sometimes small pieces of paper can be difficult to spot.
2. Reset Printer
Performing a printer reset can resolve error messages and help you clear any software glitches:
- Turn Off Printer: Use the power button to turn off the printer.
- Unplug Printer: Disconnect from the power source.
- Wait for 60 Seconds: Allow the printer to sit unplugged.
- Plug Back In: Connect the printer to the power source and turn it on.
3. Manually Move the Cartridge Carrier
If the ink cartridges are stuck to the right, you might need to manually move the cartridge carrier:
- Turn Off Printer: Ensure the printer is powered off.
- Open Access Door: Open the ink cartridge access door.
- Look for Obstructions: Check for any obstructions that might be preventing movement.
- Gently Move Carrier: Carefully and gently, try to move the cartridge carrier to the center. Do not force it.
4. Check Ink Cartridge Position and Alignment
Ensure the ink cartridges are correctly seated and aligned:
- Open Ink Cartridge Access: Open the ink cartridge access door.
- Press Down on Cartridge: Gently press down on the ink cartridges to ensure they are properly seated.
- Remove Cartridges: If possible, remove the ink cartridges by pressing them inward and lifting them out. Repeat the reverse process to reseat them.
5. Reinstall Ink Cartridges:
- Turn On Printer: Ensure the printer is powered on.
- Open Access Door: Open ink cartridge access door.
- Remove/Replace Cartridges: Gently push down on each cartridge to release it, then lift out. Reinstall by matching colors and sliding in until they click into place.
I hope this helps.
