@casey24 There are a few reasons you are getting this error and the reasons are mentioned below:
- Printer entry is glitched
- The printer driver is outdated
- The printer is not shared across the network
- 3rd party app or Windows update is interfering with the printing sequence.
The best way to resolve this issue and/or narrow it down to understand the cause of the failure is to perform a clean installation of the printer driver using the below steps:
- Press "Windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window.
- Type "services.msc" to get Services - Go to "Print spooler" - Right-click and "Stop" the service.
- Now again open "Run" - Type "spool" and ok - Go to PRINTERS folder - delete everything in that folder.
- Go to services again - Start the print spooler.
- Now check for issue resolution.
- If the issue persists, unplug the USB cable from the printer (if present).
- Go to Control panel - Programs and feature - Select all the HP printer entries and uninstall them.
- Now go to Control panel - Devices and printer - Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
- Press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" (There is a space between .exe & /) and press enter.
- Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
- Again, go to the Run window, type - "c:/programdata" - Go to the Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
- Restart your computer.
Then, use this link to access the HP website, find the drivers compatible with your windows and install it: Click here

Thankyou. I tried all of this. it didn't correct the problem. It seems to be microsoft edge browser. I tried through Google Chrome & it prints online through it. Want print through edge. I've used edge for years with no issues. guess i'll have to use Chrome.
Unless you know something else to fix it. Thanks

@casey24 I suggest you attempt to reset Microsoft edge using the below steps:
Right Click on Edge (Start or Tiles) and select More, App settings, Scroll Down and then Repair Edge and the Reset Edge.
Clear cache
Clear browsing data option of Microsoft Edge. Follow the steps below:
Click on More actions (...) at the upper right side of the Edge screen.
Select Settings. Under Clear browsing data, click on Choose what to clear.
Check the boxes of Browsing history, Cookies and saved website data, and Cached data and files and click Clear.
Run Printer Troubleshooter
On the Search box, type printers and select Devices and Printers from the list.
Set a new default printer by right-clicking it and choose Set as default printer.
Find the printer you're using, right-click it and choose Troubleshoot. Make sure that the said printer is not set as default.
Set the printer you're troubleshooting as default before clicking the Apply fix.
Set a default printer on Edge:
Open Edge.
Click More actions (...) and choose Print. A new window will pop-up.
On the Printer tab, select the printer you want to use then click Print.
Lastly, if nothing works try performing a system reset on the PC: Refer this article to know more information about performing a system reset. Click Here Alternatively, you may use other browsers such as Google Chrome instead of MS Edge as it seems to have issues with compatibility since the last update from Microsoft and we may need to wait until they release another update.
I hope that answers your query,
