Yesterday I started to have printing problems with my Laserjet CP 1525 nw, computers are iMac running Catalina 10.15.6 and MacBook Pro on 10.15.5.
First it was Waiting for print job to finish, then this became lost connection to router.
I have repeated Error 49 messages. I have tried resetting printing settings, unplugging the printer and plugging back in, reinstalling the printer driver, turning everything (including router) off and then on, running HP Easystart June 2020 version), running HP Smart (neither can see the printer on wifi). The printer's blue wifi light flashes but will not connect to the router.
The printer recalibrates very hour or so.
I can print with the printer connected by USB.
Any help would be gratefully received.

Do you have the latest firmware installed? Most 49 errors are caused by a print job containing commands the printer just does not understand and these issues are usually resolved with an update.
I am a volunteer, offering my knowledge to support fellow users, I do not work for HP nor speak for HP.

Thank you for responding.
The computer software and printer software were and are fully up to date.
However, something interesting (in a good way) happened this morning.
I reinstalled the printer using HP Smart and the USB connection, and the printer then connected to the wireless network as normal. It seems to be working normally.
I suspect that you are right that a dodgy document yesterday was what triggered the problem.
Thank you for your help.

I am trying to update the firmware as you recommend but it won;t accept it when I try to do it through my computer. Is there a direct way through the printer to do it even though it wont connect to the router?
